Curriculum

7 modules, each with a knowledge check before the next unlocks.

Module 1 · F1 · 60-75 minutes

RFID Fundamentals and the Read-Rate Trap

  • Explain why read rate is a hardware metric rather than a business metric
  • Distinguish a “read” from an “event”
  • Identify at least four questions read rate cannot answer
  • Reframe a deployment goal from “improve read rate” to “prove this event”

Module 2 · F2 · 60 minutes

The Asset Event Framework™

  • Define the four pillars (Identity, Association, Location, Time)
  • Explain why the framework is circular
  • Convert a raw EPC read into a fully structured event given sample identity/association/location/time data

Module 3 · F3 · 75 minutes

Identity: Engineering Trust at the Tag Level

  • Describe the difference between an EPC and proof of identity
  • List the components of disciplined commissioning
  • Explain why EPC and URI are both needed
  • Identify common identity failure patterns

Module 4 · F4 · 60 minutes

Association: Context Creates Meaning

  • Explain why association is dynamic while identity is durable
  • Design a basic association governance rule (ownership, timestamping, workflow)
  • Diagnose association decay from a symptom description

Module 5 · F5 · 75 minutes

Location: Designing Controlled Read Zones

  • Distinguish coverage from control
  • List the physical variables that shape an RF field
  • Explain zone bleed and its common causes
  • Describe location as an event gate

Module 6 · F6 · 60 minutes

Time: Sequencing Reality

  • Distinguish event time from processing time
  • Explain why clock synchronization is treated as infrastructure
  • Identify a temporal-inconsistency symptom in a sample event log

Module 7 · F7 · 90 minutes

Discover and Design in Practice

  • Write a complete Event Definition Statement from a business prompt
  • Produce a one-page Design-stage plan covering all four pillars
  • Estimate a Design-stage RFIDiQ Score

Discover & Design Deliverable

Submit a written Event Definition Statement and a one-page, four-pillar Design plan for a provided business scenario. Reviewed against the Foundations Deliverable Rubric.

Submitted after passing the exam and reviewed by an admin before the certificate is issued.
