Prerequisite

Curriculum

10 modules, each with a knowledge check before the next unlocks.

Module 1 · T01 · 60-75 minutes

RFID Technician's Role in Event Integrity

  • Distinguish a tag observation from a supported business event.
  • Identify the four framework elements in a field scenario.
  • Explain which issues a technician corrects and which require escalation.
  • Explain the engineer and technician survey roles and the installation handoff.

Module 2 · T02 · 90-105 minutes

RFID Hardware Fundamentals and Site Surveys

  • Trace the power, RF, network, and trigger paths through a station.
  • Identify the purpose of the main Gen2 memory banks.
  • Record hardware characteristics that affect repeatability.
  • Conduct and document the technician portion of an engineer-led site survey.
  • Recognize the information required to release an installation package to another technician.

Module 3 · T03 · 90-105 minutes

Fixed Reader Installation from the Site Survey

  • Bring a fixed reader into service using an approved configuration.
  • Verify physical antenna mapping and observation output.
  • Capture a restorable configuration baseline.
  • Install from the released survey and resolve discrepancies through engineering.
  • Produce an as-built record that another technician can use.

Module 4 · T04 · 75-90 minutes

Antennas and RF Behavior

  • Explain why orientation and surroundings change observations.
  • Compare one-variable RF adjustments using recorded trials.
  • Choose a configuration based on inclusion and exclusion evidence.

Module 5 · T05 · 90 minutes

Controlled Read Zones

  • Define an intended area and an explicit exclusion area.
  • Apply the six-stage read-zone workflow.
  • Demonstrate zone performance with boundary and challenge tests.

Module 6 · T06 · 75-90 minutes

Transition Portals

  • Distinguish presence near a portal from completed passage.
  • Verify physical geometry, triggers, and timing against the approved design.
  • Test forward, reverse, and non-transition scenarios.

Module 7 · T07 · 75-90 minutes

Handheld RFID

  • Prepare a handheld reader for an approved inventory or locate workflow.
  • Control the mobile read zone during a search.
  • Verify identity before any authorized memory operation.

Module 8 · T08 · 90 minutes

Commissioning and Tag Verification

  • Execute the approved encode and verify workflow on a training tag.
  • Detect mismatches and duplicate EPCs without hiding them.
  • Record replacement and retirement through the approved lifecycle process.

Module 9 · T09 · 90-105 minutes

Troubleshooting

  • Use a structured fault isolation sequence.
  • Separate symptoms from supported causes.
  • Verify repairs by repeating affected and neighboring tests.

Module 10 · T10 · 105-120 minutes

Validation and Documentation

  • Distinguish configuration verification from outcome validation.
  • Measure misses and false positives using explicit trial definitions.
  • Produce a Technician Deployment Readiness Report with traceable evidence.

Technician Deployment Readiness Report

Given an engineer-released survey and installation package on a faulted training station, inspect, configure, tune, troubleshoot, and validate the deployment, then submit a Technician Deployment Readiness Report documenting faults found and corrected, validation results, and a final readiness recommendation.

Submitted after passing the exam and reviewed by an admin before the certificate is issued.
